In Icarus, the player takes on the role of an astronaut in space. He's on a comic station orbiting an alien planet. From time to time, he must leave the safe haven and descend to the surface of the globe to replenish his supplies and carry out the missions entrusted to him. Although Icarus is happening on an alien planet, it's still a classic survival game. The player's task is to meet the basic needs of the controlled character - hunger, oxygen and thirst - while avoiding the death that can be carried by the local game. In addition to this, he must also fulfil the objectives of the missions assigned to him. The game offers an open world with many different environments - including dense forests and deserts. Each of them offers different types of resources, which forces the player to move around the map. It can be navigated on foot or in a special vehicle. Additionally, there is a possibility to return to the orbital station, which serves as a base for the player. A system of craftsmanship has been implemented. The raw materials collected can be used to produce tools necessary for survival. Among the objects that can be created were a bow and an axe.
